After class activities in Berlin & Germany
In addition to our German courses we arrange extracurriular activities in Berlin. Come along if you want! Every week we organize:
- 3 - 4 activities in Berlin
- including a seminar on German culture
- and a weekend trip to e.g. Potsdam, Leipzig or Dresden
This is how a week at GLS may look like:
The afternoon seminars offered by GLS teachers are free of charge. For all other activities organized by GLS a small fee applies. If you would like to join these excursions, you can book them after your German course in the foyer of the language school.
Sunday
Arrival in Berlin and transfer to accommodation: The GLS reception is open 24 hours (after 9 pm there is no receptionist, but the security man will check you in). If you stay with Berliners, please try to schedule arrival between 9 am and 9 pm.
Monday
In the evening: GLS "Stammtisch", i.e. a get-together for old and new students. Every Monday between 40 and 120 students attend - a great opportunity to make new friends.
Wednesday
Walking tour through Oranienburgerstraße - before the holocaust this used to be a center of Jewish life - and visit of Jewish Museum Berlin
Thursday
Visit of the Badeschiff - a swimming pool in the middle of river Spree, with a fantastic scenery and a nice bar. At night: We show a movie with German subtitles (big screen in the lounge)
Friday
Join us for a boat trip around Museum Island - or do a bike tour with us, along the Berlin wall. At night our guides take you to Friedrichshain: a young and rather alternative district famous for its nightlife
Saturday
Full day excursion with a GLS guide to places like Potsdam, Dresden or Sachsenhausen, a former concentration camp just north of Berlin: see our current trips
Sunday
Free day for activities on your own - our recommendation: Go to one of the many lakes in and around Berlin. We´ll gladly consult you - our guides are there for you daily between 10 and 6.30 pm (Monday to Thursday, Friday till 4 pm).
