Host Family in Berlin
Basicly "host family" means that somebody will be there for you and serve breakfast as well as dinner.
It does not necessarily mean, that you´ll be staying with a traditional family:
Your hosts can be couples (married or not) as well as singles, with or without kids. Relevant is that they are friendly and open, that they are willing to spend time with you. All hosts have been inspected, and many have been hosting our students for several years.
Distance to GLS:
between 5 and 50 (!) minutes by bus, metro or bicycle (Host families tend to be further away from school - in the outer districts where families live. Many hosts in the center districts work, thus prefer to offer only self catering or breakfast).
- transfer to airport or station upon arrival and departure (by car or public transport)
- single room with bed, table and closet
- own key
- linen & towels
- shared bathroom
- use of washing machine: not included, but some hosts let you use it
- breakfast and dinner*
* If you don´t want to commute "just" because of dinner, you can also book dinner at the GLS restaurant. Please note that you have to decide upfront which dinner option you book - i.e. you can´t decide on a daily basis.
