If you want to study in Germany
... you will always have to document your knowledge of German, regardless if you apply directly at a university or do "Studienkolleg" before.
GLS helps you:
Our German courses help you to prepare for all German language certificates.
What we cannot do: enroll you in a German university. That is something only you can do. You yourself will have to apply, and the following information maybe helpful:
What you need if you want to go to a German university:
- Language certificate (TestDaF or DSH - if you study art or music, ZD may be sufficient - exam preparation and for ZD exam as well possible at GLS
- Either a diploma by a university in your home country OR, if you just finished high school, a secondary school diploma, that is accepted as aequivalent to German "Abitur".
To see if that is the case for your secondary school diploma, check this website: DAAD.
If your secondary school diploma is NOT accepted, you will have to study at least 1 year at a pre-univesity "Studienkolleg" und pass an exam called Assessment Test . You can avoid that by starting university at home and then moving to Germany after the first year.
If you did the assessment test at a German "Studienkolleg": certified photocopy
a photo, passport-size
a CV with info about your educational backgound, i.e. the schools you attended, exams you took
medical insurance
possibly a visa: If you need a visa or not, you can find out by calling the German embassy in your country (addresses).
Please note, that a tourist visa or a visa for a language course does not entitle you to attend university - for that you need another type of visa which is granted only after you have been admitted by a German university.
So apply at a university first, and after that for a visa.
